Student Exchange Programs
The Problem
AFS changes the World one person at a time. And even a small amount of funds are enough to change one person’s life, hence contributing to our mission of a peaceful World. In the past however, AFS was sometimes unable to find adequate funding to support less-advantaged students who were qualified for the student exchange experience.
The Purpose
The program aims to equip 15-18 years old high school students with intercultural competences and raise next generations that are culturally more tolerant and open. The program works to provide intercultural learning opportunities to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.
The Impact The Project Will Have
This project ultimately will contribute to world peace. Currently operating in 55 countries, AFS believes that carefully selected students undertaking an extended stay in a foreign country and culture will not only learn another language, but also develop international understanding and an appreciation of global interdependence.
